The triOS College Physiotherapist Assistant Diploma Program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to start a rewarding career as a Physiotherapist Assistant.

Physiotherapy is part of the process of recovery and rehabilitation for injured individuals, and the demand for trained professionals to support the industry continues to grow. With an aging population, the demand will only rise.

Individuals considering a career as a Physiotherapist Assistant should enjoy working with people, be compassionate, patient, and possess the ability to listen, as well as being physically able to assist in patient lifts and support.

Physiotherapist Assistants are taught how the body functions. Knowledge is acquired on disease, injury and the healing process, detection of deficiencies in posture, balance, movement and function. Graduates from the program are eligible to join the National Support Worker Assembly which is the parallel association under the umbrella of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).

The Physiotherapist Assistant administers physical therapy treatments to patients under the direction of and as assistants to a Physiotherapist. Work settings include hospitals, physiotherapy clinics, rehabilitation centres, long-term care facilities, sports medicine clinics, community health care agencies and other medical settings.
